Acceptable Use Policy

What you may not do with Pier's public tunnels, and how we handle abuse reports and takedowns.

Effective date: 16 July 2026

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs use of Pier's hosted features, especially public tunnels at *.onpier.dev, and is part of the Terms of Service. It exists so the shared onpier.dev namespace stays safe and reputable for everyone. By using the Service you agree to this AUP.

Prohibited uses

You may not use the Service, or expose content through a tunnel, to:

  • Host, distribute, or link to illegal content, or content that infringes others' intellectual property or privacy rights.
  • Run phishing, credential harvesting, scams, or impersonation.
  • Distribute malware, ransomware, exploits, or other harmful code.
  • Send spam or operate unsolicited bulk messaging.
  • Host content that is harmful to minors, or that is unlawful, defamatory, or harassing.
  • Attempt to breach security or abuse the Service or others, including port scanning, unauthorised access, evading limits or bans, or interfering with the network.
  • Place disproportionate load on the Service, use tunnels for sustained production traffic, CDN or bandwidth offloading, crypto mining, or as anonymising infrastructure (proxy, VPN, or exit node).
  • Resell or sublicense tunnel access, or register subdomains in bad faith (squatting or brand impersonation).

Enforcement and takedown

We may suspend, disable, or remove any tunnel, subdomain, or account at any time, including immediately and without prior notice, if we believe it violates this AUP or the Terms, is the subject of a valid legal complaint, or poses a risk to the Service or others. Taking down a subdomain immediately stops it from resolving and prevents it from being re-claimed. We may also report unlawful activity to the authorities. We are not obliged to monitor content, and takedown decisions are at our discretion.

Reporting abuse

To report abuse of a *.onpier.dev subdomain or other misuse, email hi@pierapp.co with the URL and a description. We aim to review reports promptly.

No guarantee of monitoring

We do not pre-screen or continuously monitor tunnel content. Responsibility for content rests with the user exposing it.

Changes

We may update this AUP. Material changes will be posted with a new effective date. Continuing to use the Service means you accept the updated policy.
